Young Celebrates Committee Passage of Two Bipartisan Health Bills

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senator Todd Young applauded the passage of his Congenital Heart Futures Authorization Act and Dr. Lorna Breen Health Care Provider Protection Reauthorization Act by the U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor & Pensions (HELP) Committee.

“I am pleased by today’s votes in the HELP Committee, and I urge the full Senate to pass these bipartisan bills,” said Senator Young.

The Dr. Lorna Breen Health Care Provider Protection Reauthorization Act would help to reduce and prevent suicide, burnout, and mental and behavioral health conditions among health care professionals. Senator Young introduced the bipartisan Dr. Lorna Breen Health Care Provider Protection Reauthorization Act with Senator Kaine (D-Va.) in January.

The Congenital Heart Futures Authorization Act would improve research and data collection to better increase the quality of care offered to those born with CHD to improve childhood survival rates, prevent premature death and disability, and increase quality of life for the two-and-a-half million Americans living with congenital heart disease. Senator Young introduced the bipartisan Congenital Heart Futures Authorization Act with Senator Durbin (D-Ill.) in February.

Both bills passed through the HELP committee with votes of 19-2.
