Young Cosponsors Bill to Reauthorize 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Todd Young (R-Ind.) today announced his co-sponsorship of the Never Forget the Heroes: Permanent Authorization of the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund Act (S. 546). This legislation permanently reauthorizes the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund (VCF), which supports 9/11 survivors and first responders who have experienced health issues following the September 11th terrorist attacks.
“The survivors, first responders, and families who lost loved ones on September 11th continue to feel the devastating effects of that horrific day and we have an obligation to support them,” said Senator Young. “There’s no question, these American heroes need to receive the full compensation they are due.”
In the years since September 11, 2001, thousands of 9/11 responders and survivors have become ill and many have lost their lives from exposure to toxins at Ground Zero. This legislation is designed to ensure that the VCF is fully funded and will remain open for those that will become ill in the future.
