Sens. Young and Donnelly seek applicants for USDA positions

Washington D.C. – U.S. Senators Todd Young and Joe Donnelly are looking for qualified individuals to fill state-level leadership positions with the United States Department of Agriculture. Sens. Young and Donnelly will review applications and make a joint recommendation to President Donald Trump, who will then select the nominees.

Qualified applicants can send their cover letter, resume and up to three letters of recommendation by August 18, 2017 tonominations@young.senate.gov for the following positions:

State Director of the Farm Services Agency – The Director is in charge of administering the federal programs under the Farm Service Agency. These are programs found in Title I of the farm bill. The FSA Director also administers purchase and operation loans as well as some disaster programs.

State Director of Rural Development – The Director of Rural Development oversees three areas: housing and community facilities programs, business programs, and utilities programs.

“These leadership positions are vital in supporting Hoosier farmers and communities across rural Indiana,” Senator Young said. “We want to do our part to ensure Indiana remains a leader in feeding the world.”

Donnelly said, “Indiana’s farmers are providing food and fuel that support families across our state, our country, and the world. Through this process, Senator Young and I hope to find the best Hoosiers for these critical roles.”

After a nominee is named by the White House, the respective Directors can assume their responsibilities. Senate confirmation is not required.
