The United States Congress is the branch of the federal government that is constitutionally charged with creating the nation’s laws. All legislative powers are controlled by Congress, which consists of the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives. The Senate is comprised of 100 members, two from every state. The House currently consists of 435 members, which is determined by states’ populations.
