Young Votes to Permanently Reauthorize the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Todd Young (R-Ind.) today voted in support of the Never Forget the Heroes: Permanent Authorization of the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund Act (S. 546), which passed the full Senate on a 97-2 vote. This legislation permanently reauthorizes the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund (VCF), which supports 9/11 survivors and first responders who have experienced health issues following the September 11th terrorist attacks. Senator Young co-sponsored this legislation last month.

In the years since September 11, 2001, thousands of 9/11 responders and survivors have become ill and many have lost their lives from exposure to toxins at Ground Zero. This legislation is designed to ensure that the VCF is fully funded and will remain open for those that will become ill in the future.

“The survivors, first responders, and families who lost loved ones on September 11th continue to feel the devastating effects of that horrific day,” said Senator Young. “I was proud to help pass this legislation and will continue to support these American heroes and their families.

Senator Young discussed the need to pass this legislation in a press conference before the vote this afternoon. Click here or the image below to watch. Click here to view Senator Young’s comments on Fox News.
