Young: Barbaric Attacks Against Civilians in Syria by Russia and Assad Regime Must Stop
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Todd Young (R-Ind.), Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee that oversees the United Nations, today issued the following statement regarding the recent attacks on civilians in Eastern Ghouta, Syria:
Senator Young said, “Russia and the Assad regime’s barbaric attacks on civilians and medical facilities in Eastern Ghouta must stop in order to enable desperately needed humanitarian access and medical evacuations. Moscow’s actions have been particularly deplorable—helping to kill hundreds of innocent men, women, and children in recent days while using its position on the United Nations Security Council to block a resolution calling for a ceasefire.”
Young continued, “The Syrian people deserve a government that protects and represents them—not one that bombs and starves them.”
