PHOTOS: Young Highlights Coronavirus Recovery Efforts in Southern Indiana

NASHVILLE, Ind. – Today, U.S. Senator Todd Young (R-Ind.) made two stops in southern Indiana focused on coronavirus recovery efforts. Senator Young visited Mike’s Music & Dance Barn in Nashville, where he discussed his RESTART Act with music venue owners, including the owners of Bill Monroe Music Park and The Bluebird. The RESTART Act will help Indiana job-creators survive coronavirus closures. Senator Young also visited Decatur County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg, which received funding from the CARES Act to support telehealth services.

“Hearing directly from the hardest-hit Hoosier businesses and healthcare providers is critical to informing our coronavirus response efforts moving forward,” said Senator Young. “From economic assistance for small businesses, to funding for critical health services, the Senate is working to provide relief for those most affected by the pandemic. Visiting Mike’s Music & Dance Barn and the Decatur County Memorial Hospital today provided valuable insights about what steps are still needed in order to see a full recovery.

Mike’s Music & Dance Barn and other music venues have been unable to reopen due to restrictions on gatherings as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. Senator Young’s RESTART Act would support small- and mid-sized businesses like Mike’s Music & Dance Barn that are facing permanent closure, and the jobs they support. Nearly 30 national and international trade associations – from music venues to manufacturing companies – have endorsed the RESTART Act, and 40 Indiana businesses have expressed their support. When the Senate begins debating the next round of coronavirus relief later this month, Senator Young will be pushing for the RESTART Act to be included in any relief package.

The Decatur County Memorial Hospital received $698,603 from the CARES Act, which Senator Young supported. The funding was awarded for remote patient monitoring equipment, a patient telehealth platform, network upgrades, tablets, and mobile hotspots to provide a variety of telehealth options. With telehealth becoming a vital resource during the coronavirus pandemic, Senator Young was able to see first-hard how this CARES Act funding is being put to use for Hoosiers in the Greensburg community.
