Senator Young Hails Notre Dame Professor Amy Coney Barrett as Extraordinarily Qualified Judicial Nominee
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Todd Young (R-Ind.) joined Senators and religious freedom organizations who spoke in favor of Notre Dame Professor Amy Coney Barrett’s nomination to the 7thCircuit Court of Appeals.
“My vote for Professor Barrett’s confirmation will be based on her extraordinary set of qualifications and her ability to do the job faithfully and effectively. I look forward to her consideration on the Senate floor,” said Senator Young.
Despite Professor Barrett’s impeccable legal credentials, several Democratic Senators have raised issues with her Catholic faith. In his remarks, Senator Young reminded his colleagues that we do not have religious tests for office in the United States of America.
