VIDEO: Young Questions Telecommunications Executives on Robocalls
WASHINGTON — In reaction to the high volume of illegal robocall scams flooding Hoosiers’ phones, U.S. Senator Todd Young (R-Ind.), a member of the Senate Commerce Committee, questioned a panel of telecommunications experts in today’s Commerce Hearing on his recently released Telephone Robocall Abuse Criminal Enforcement and Deterrence (TRACED) Act.
During the Hearing, Senator Young asked the panel about improving phone call authentication standards to proactively prevent unsolicited phone calls. Mr. Kevin Rupy, Partner at Wiley Rein’s Telecom, Media & Technology (TMT) Practice, responded by saying, “The TRACED Actdoes two things that are going to help with that – the facilitation and interagency work… will make finding these actors easier and faster, but I really think that at the end of the day, that the criminal enforcement component so if they get caught that first time they can’t set up shop again.”
